How It Works
DuetSM PRI is a business-grade voice and data service with up to 23 phone lines and up to 1.5 Mbps of T1 Internet access.

When you sign up for our Duet PRI Voice and Data service, MegaPath installs a private T1 circuit at your location, with specialized voice/data routing equipment on either end. Your traffic is delivered over MegaPath's robust, private all-optical MPLS network, allowing us to prioritize voice traffic over other data traffic. This ensures crystal clear voice service and the reliability you expect from a business-class phone service.
Duet PRI is compatible with your existing phone system so you don't have to buy new equipment. You can even keep your existing number and add additional DIDs (Dedicated Inward Dial) to provide unique phone numbers for each of your employees. There's no downtime because we don't port your numbers over or connect your phones until your Duet PRI service is in place.

MegaPath Duet - Frequently Asked Questions
What is Duet?
Duet is a business-class voice and data service from MegaPath. We’ve combined these services into a simple, full-featured communications package for small and medium-sized businesses – and larger companies with multiple branch offices. Duet voice and data packages include unlimited local calling, unlimited domestic long-distance for analog phones and competitive long-distance rates for PBXs/IP-PBXs, and high-speed Internet access. By bundling voice services with a true high-speed Internet connection, businesses can realize big savings, lock in their monthly telecom costs, and enjoy the benefits of one bill, one reliable vendor and excellent customer service.
Is Duet a new company?
Actually, no. Duet is brought to you by MegaPath, a leading provider of Internet
Protocol (IP) data, voice and security services. MegaPath was one of the
first companies to offer high-speed broadband services specifically for businesses
when the telecom industry opened to more widespread competition nearly 10
years ago. Since then, many telecom companies have come and gone. But by
delivering superior customer service and exceptional value, MegaPath continues
to provide service to over 20,000 business customers nationwide and has been
recognized by many prestigious organizations and publications.
What makes Duet so unique?
It really saves you money! We’re not only confident that we can provide
you with a reliable, high-quality, bundled voice and data service; we also
believe that we have the lowest price out there in the marketplace today. Our
friendly, knowledgeable account representatives can’t wait to talk to
you to tell you how much we can save your business.
Do I need a new phone system or phone number if I change providers?
No, Duet is compatible with your existing phone system and you can keep your
existing phone numbers. It’s our goal to make your changeover to our
phone and data service as seamless and simple as possible.
How long does it take to establish VoIP and broadband phone service?
It typically takes between 20 and 30 business days to establish your broadband
Internet connection and your phone service is activated quickly thereafter
in a simple process called “porting” that moves your phone number
from your old provider to Duet.
Do I need to be present?
Well, yes. Remember we said we’re friendly and we’d love to meet
you. Besides, you need to be on-site to accept delivery of your high-speed
line so we don’t have to reschedule with the local telephone company.
We also need to hook-up our equipment.
Where does the Local Telephone Company install the new line?
The new high-speed connection will be installed at the Network Interface Device
(NID) or Minimum Point of Entry (MPOE). But remember, we take care of everything.
You don’t have to know what telecom acronyms stand for ... that’s
what you’re friends here at MegaPath are for. But if you’re one
of those techies that must know, the NID and MPOE are typically located in
a designated area of your building where all the telephone lines run into
your location.
Will my phone service be interrupted during this process?
No way. We know your business relies on your phones. You need to be accessible
for your customers just the way we like to be there for you. We order a completely
separate line to your location and get your Duet service up and running before
you connect your phones.
Will the field technician configure my Local Area Network (LAN) during
the equipment installation?
No. Our customers generally have a local support person or systems integrator
who can easily handle these LAN activities because they know your local area
network best.
What if additional wiring is needed to connect the new line?
In the unlikely event that our field technician is unable to find an available
pair of wires to connect the new line to the location where we are installing
your equipment, new wiring will be required. Our technicians will install
up to 50 feet of wiring provided the total install time does not exceed 15
minutes. If the install time is more than that and the wiring exceeds 50
feet or other extraordinary conditions exist, we will provide you with a
quote for the extra work or recommend that you find a vendor to perform the
extended wiring. You will be informed of this situation immediately. Our
technicians have pretty much seen it all and they are experts at making this
process as simple as possible for you.
Is there a chance I may not get the service that I ordered?
There is a small chance that service will not be able to be established. If
the Local Telephone Company does not have enough facilities to support the
new line, we may not find that out until the physical installation. We will
inform you of this problem as soon as we are notified. If this is the case,
MegaPath will offer you an alternative comparable service, if available.
How can you offer such low prices?
It has a lot to do with next-generation Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
technology that let’s us deliver many phone lines and Internet access
over a single circuit. This reduces our network expenses, since we don’t
have to pay for multiple lines and provide these services separately. So,
we can pass on big savings to you! By the way, we deliver your voice services
over a reliable, secure and private network—completely separated from
and prioritized over your Internet traffic. Your telephone calls are not
going over the public Internet, like they might be through a lot of other
low-priced VoIP providers out there in the marketplace. That’s why
we call Duet business-class service.
Do you support E-911 emergency service?
Yes, our network provides enhanced 911 services and was designed to do so from
the get-go. That means when you dial 911 you will be immediately directed
to the appropriate public safety answering point (PSAP) with identifying
information for your emergency services. However, in the rare case that you
suffer a power outage at your location or your broadband service is down,
you will not be able to dial 911 using our service.
Anything else I need to know about Duet?
Did we mention that we were friendly and knowledgeable and we could save you
a lot of money? Actually, there is one more thing. You need to know our telephone
number. It’s 1-866-408-4916.
