Sunshine Gasoline Distributors Expands MegaPath Service to More Than 200 Gas Stations

MegaPath Enables Convenience Store and Petroleum (CSP) Company to Comply with Industry Regulations and Improve Point of Sale Performance

Pleasanton, Calif., November 4, 2013MegaPath Corporation, a leading provider of managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, today announced that it is delivering broadband, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Wireless Failover and Managed Security Services to Sunshine Gas Distributors’ 140 additional sites. Through this relationship, the Florida-based gasoline distributor with convenience store and gasoline locations is able to meet and exceed the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) using MegaPath’s Network Security Compliance Services.

“When originally selecting MegaPath as our service provider, the goal was to improve security capabilities and establish a failover system that could support reliable communications and transaction processing,” said Max Alvarez, Vice President, Sunshine Gasoline Distributors Inc. “Starting with an initial 70-location implementation, MegaPath helped us build a superior, secure credit-card operations network with a solution that covers all our bases. It was an easy decision to expand MegaPath’s services to 140 new sites because we are confident in the integrity of our transactions.”

MegaPath enables each Sunshine Gas location to continuously monitor the broadband connection and seamlessly and instantly transition between wireline and wireless broadband in the event of a primary service outage. This capability ensures that no revenue is lost in the event of a disruption. Sunshine Gas Distributors is also leveraging MegaPath’s recent expansion of its 3G/4G wireless footprint and pooled-usage plans in locations not accessible by wireline access.

“Our customers require a reliable network to run their business with the assurance their corporate and customer data will remain secure,” said Dan Foster, President, Business Markets, MegaPath. “As an active member of the PCI Security Standards Council, we have a deep understanding of the requirements and challenges that retailers face to maintain compliance with corporate and industry regulations and we put this knowledge to work as we deliver solutions that help businesses like Sunshine Gas Distributors process fast and secure payment transactions at every location.”

MegaPath’s MPLS VPN service offers a cost-effective solution that enables customers to consolidate all business applications onto a single private network. With the MPLS Class of Service, all voice and video traffic is prioritized for optimal Quality of Service (QoS). With MegaPath’s offerings, Sunshine Gas Distributors will continue to implement the most reliable and cost effective solutions to meet its increasing needs.
